This exhibition explores the representation of ideas, shaped by individuals' preconceived notions or limited experiences of Los Angeles, and how such representations become a construct of media. Reyner Banham's Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies was analyzed, deconstructed, and reinterpreted. Each student was assigned an ecology to re-represent through a series of media, revealing the inherent biases, perspectives, and nuances of each medium. With each new iteration, the evolving narrative of Los Angeles became more influenced by the students' personal interpretations, gradually diverging from Banham’s original portrayal. This is not LA.

The exhibition poster incorporates every photograph of Los Angeles from Banham's book, yet this is not LA. A variable typeface reflects the students’ understanding of the city, something that expanded and contracted as their exploration progressed.
